The new women Veterans shelter located at 1214 Route 50 in Ballston Spa, New York is called the Guardian House.  The shelter is a historic home and designed for homeless women Veterans.  It has eleven beds and an environment that is safe and secure for women.   New furniture and food items in the pantry have all been donated.

Women Veterans returning from serving overseas are experiencing the same problems readjusting to civilian life as male Veterans returning. The home will offer mental health services, job training, and drug and alcohol counseling.  Studies show that women Veterans are twice as likely to find themselves homeless than men.

Funds for the home came from a grant from the Department of Veterans Affairs and private donations.
