Albany Stratton VA Medical Center’s Adaptive Sports Team, “Team Albany,” traveled to Snowmass Colorado March 27-April 1 to participate in the 25th National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic. Little did they know they’d be sharing the powder with Vice President Joe Biden, pictured here shaking hands with “Team Albany” member Andy Treventi, after a successful run down the slopes.

The Adaptive sports clinic promotes rehabilitation by instructing Veterans with disabilities in adaptive sports from Alpine/Nordic skiing to rock climbing. It opens up opportunities for Veterans to engage in a number of adaptive recreational activities and sports, providing a supportive atmosphere with the excitement of friendly competition.

Athletes who are apart of Team Albany fundraise throughout the year to help fund their participation in National Events such as the Winter Sports Clinic.

Veterans interested in the Stratton VA’s Adaptive Sports Clinic can call program manager and recreation therapist Michele Ferrauilo at (518) 626-5804.
